The Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration is responsible for the Maritime Safety and Security Centre’s (MSSC) administration. In order to do so, the Waterways and Shipping Administration Elbe-Nordsee in Cuxhaven set up a MSSC Administrative Department (AD MSSC). The MSSC AD is currently staffed by five people.

The Administrative Department of the Maritime Safety and Security Centre ensures that the facility is used in accordance with the requirements. This includes taking care of all administrative matters, such as facility management and ensuring compliance with fire protection and occupational health and safety regulations (each in collaboration with the partners), as well as ensuring information security and providing IT system support. The Maritime Safety and Security Centre’s AD is also responsible for the facility’s press and public relations and general presentation of the work carried out by the MSSC.

During operations, public relations work is carried out by the authority conducting the operation.
